A Note from Baron Collecting vintage cameras and using my collection to shoot landscapes, people, architecture, and more in real life is one of my most enjoyable hobbies. I shoot with 120mm Holgas, 35mm Lomos(Russian 35mm cameras in general), vintage 120 & 620 box cameras, and pinhole cameras. I have just recently discovered that I also enjoy photography, seriously, in world. I love the entire process of setting up the props, the background, and the angles ... creating the textures of the props ... hand painting the mats, the frames ... hand painting dozens of layers of post processing effects in photoshop. It's a labour of love and if you enjoy photography as much as I do, I welcome you to join my in world group "The Templum ex Obscurum League EP". There is no cost. EP stands for "extraordinary photographers." It's a small nod to a steam punk movie entitled "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", which I love because I value Victorian history and alternate reality concepts. There will be photo challenges, weekly contests & shared postings of work w/space in a group gallery for exhibition, and networking ... I will allow mature compositions in the gallery and in public portfolios. I welcome professionals as well. Landmarks/notecards/portfolios will be welcome in a special area available to the public for those searching for inworld photographic services. -Baron

Some spots reveal themselves to you as you wander through the thick new Irish grasslands. Others are hidden among the craggy rocks and cliffs and in places you have to take your time to find.

Watch for Baron's elegant new biblio collection to arrive, complete with sumptious old books with distressed leather covers, worn edges and turning parchment pages. You'll also find a set of rich wooden tables and wrought iron tables, deskmate gargoyles and melting candles to light your midnight reading adventures.

Welcome to Tryst

The secret to a great and enduring love affair applies in equal measure to a sim: keep it passionate, keep it fresh, and keep it growing.

Chances are you’ve noticed a rather significant overhaul underway on all of the SIMs in our region right now. Part of this effort includes letting go of favourite haunts to make way for new ones. You may have noticed Baron working his sculpty magic to make things more compact and efficient on the SIMs, but you might not be aware that he's been creating entirely new textures and effects to take advantage of the brilliant new windlight settings.

And yes, those are our SIMs featured on the Windlight Client front page, featuring Baron's airship on Templum and the old French village on Nox overlooking the Ubuntu savannah .... all of which are now gone. Yep ... constant reinvention!

Exquisite Holiday creations dripping in fairy dust. You'll find trees of black opal & amethyst velvet, dripping with dew drop gemstones and glittering spiders. Amidst the Fairy snow dandelions and red poisonous mushrooms you'll find Holly leaf trees that have grown up through the middle of fairy rings.

Watch for the Velvet trees from last Christmas, re-released with gorgeous new fabrics and candles, and a version that gives you all of the colours, fabrics and toppers in a single, easy-cycle format.

A month ago we invited you to join us to help usher out the Opera House on our Intemptesta Nox SIM to make way for a more efficient, functional and beautiful build in the new year. You'll notice that the SIM is being transformed into a series of island, with some magical new spaces for you to explore while waiting for the new Opera Nox to arrive. Part of the change includes moving the "Serendipity Studios" piano and music shop, the "Appetite & Eve" jewellery shop, and the perpetual Christmas shop over to the new ruins on the Templum ex Obscurum SIM.

None of the original pianos were brought along. Instead you'll find an entire new line of baby grands waiting for you with some significant improvements to functionality, and some very healthy decreases to prices! The original classic styles have been brought back in the baby grands, and have been reduced from the original $875 to just $375 each. Great timing for folks looking for something special to tuck under the tree this year. In addition, you'll find some elegant new carved wooden antique grands have joined the line-up, along with a few handpainted jewels like the "Sentimentia" and "Blood & Pearls" baby grands.

So what's changed besides the size? Well, not only do these pianos fit the average avie better, they now start and stop the playing animation when you touch the keyboard rather than as soon as you sit down or stand up. This will allow for a more realistic performance, especially for the live music artists who are using them to entertain around the grid.

What can you look forward to? The arrival of the new "loadable songbooks", letting you tuck music inside to keep it all in one place, as well as improving the playback performance that makes sheet music such a difficult thing to enjoy at times in SL.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR Baron & I invite you to join us on Sunday, December 9th at 2:00 p.m. SLT for the auctioning off of some of our visitor's favourite memorabilia from the Opera House on the Intemptesta Nox SIM. Some of the things you will be able to bid on include the grand staircase, the original chandelier, individually numbered lights from the chandelier that was crashed into the theater audience after the October 27th masqued ball, the domed ceilings, the golden statues and a few other surprises. These one-of-a-kind items would make excellent Christmas gifts that give twice, as a portion of the proceeds will be going to the “Gardens of Hope” project, providing food for AIDs orphans in Lesotho, Africa.

AD LUCEM Watch for a new castle to arrive! While it will be Baron and Sue's home on the SIMs, it will be open to the public from time to time. Ever wonder about the Latin origins of the SIM names on the Tryst continent? "Ad Lucem" means "toward the light". The name chosen for each SIM have a special significance.

Clocks with Updated Functions!

Visit "TOK" to pick up one of the new grandfather or mantle clocks, now with the ability to update the timezone, silence the chimes, turn off the second hand in laggy sims, reset the clock if it gets crunched by a grid update, and assign permission to your partner, group or other guests to manage the clock. Have one of Sue's original grandfather or mantle clocks? Drop a notecard on her inworld telling her with clock you currently have, and she'll arrange to trade it up at no cost to you.
